PERE MARQUETTE III – CHAPLET OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

BEADS:  Black matte antique beads dedicated to the black robe worn by Pere Marquette as a Jesuit. Simple and in keeping with the life style of the Jesuits.

MEDAL:  MIRACULOUS MEDAL (1830) – antique, Europe/1850’s – (1.25 in.)

OPTIONAL CRUCIFIX: PLAIN CRUCIFIX – antique, Italy/1910’s – (2.1 in.)

CHAPLET OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION This chaplet, the Chaplet of the Immaculate Conception of the Miraculous Medal, was composed by St. John Berchmans, SJ. He prayed it daily to obtain Mary’s intercession. His desire was to never commit any sin against the virtue of purity.

PERE MARQUETTE: The one you see here is one of our dedication chaplets corona or crown to the prayers that Pere Marquette prayed (see prayers below). It is in keeping with the original configuration of the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHAPLET developed by St John Berchman SJ.

MEDAL OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION (Miraculous Medal) was given to Saint Catherine Laboure on November 27th 1830 by the Blessed Virgin Mary, herself. She asked Catherine to have a medal struck of the image she gave her so that her children could wear it around their neck. She assured her they would receive special graces. So may prayers were answered that it became known as the Miraculous Medal The reverse side has a cross coming up from an M. The 2 hearts are below, one on either side (Sacred Heart of Jesus and Pierced heart of Mary, and is surrounded by 12 stars. The front of the medal pictures Mary with her arms out stretched and framed in the following words

Mary, conceived without original sin,
pray for us who have recourse to thee”
