WHO WAS LOUIS MARTIN?
Blessed Louis Martin (22 August 1823 – 29 July 1894) was a French layman of “heroic sanctity”. Louis desired to be an Augustinian monk but did not know Latin. He married Blessed Marie-Azelie Guerin but lived as brother and sister for ten months before having 9 children, 5 who became nuns and 4 that died in infancy. Martin is the father of Saint Teerese de Lisieux. His wife was Blessed Marie-Azelie Guerin.
CAUSE FOR SAINTHOOD:
Diocesan tribunal closing session (21 May 2013), regarding healing of a young girl. File was sent to Rome for review by Congregation for Causes of Saints, recommending to Pope they be canonized.
