FATHER BARAGA III: (1797 – 1868)

AVE BEADS: 8mm Rare ‘Kona Dolomite” mined in the UP of Michigan in the area of Baraga and Ishpeming. Kona Dolomite is a natural, often earthy rose colored stone.

PATER BEADS: 12mm Faceted blue Crystals from Swarovski (Austria) to remind us of the Lake called ‘Superior

CROSS: VICTORY OVER ADAM’s SIN – late 1700s – (2.5 in.)’, where Father Baraga walked and evangelized.

CENTER: NORTH AMERICAN MARTYRS (Jesuit) – honoring 1650’s event , late 19-20c – (1.5 in. ).


Father Frederic Baraga: Servant of God, Slovene American and Roman Catholic Priest was a missionary, bishop, and grammarian. (June 29, 1797 – January 19, 1868)
He ministered to the Indians in the Great Lakes area of the United States. He was the first bishop of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Diocese of Marquette) from 1853 – 1860. He spoke several languages and took on the task of translating and publishing a dictionary in the Ojibway language.
