GOOD SHEPHERD / STE CECELIA MEDAL: This medal shows the Good Shepherd on the front side which is adapted from the Gospel, the Good Shepherd is an Early Christian symbol representing Christ the Savior. The lamb on His shoulders represents the once lost soul now saved by Him. In Latin it says: “Bonus Pastor”, which translated means: “The Good Shepherd”. Also shown on each side are two doves representing the Holy Spirit and below His feet is an anchor.
Reverse: Is a devotional medal of Saint Cecelia (virgin and martyer) who is the patroness of music. This image shows her in the Catacomb of Callistus (Rome). This image of her lying down on her side with her arms extended was the way her body was found when exhumed 800 years later (incorrupt), is also a statue in the Catacomb. Inscription in Latin “Domino de Cantabat Fiat Cor Meum Immaculatum Cecelia” Translated: “Lord, let my heart sing” the song of Caecilia. It also shows above the Alpha and omega which are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, and a title of Christ and God in the Book of Revelation “the alpha and the omega”. This pair of letters is used as a Christian symbol and is often combined with the Cross, Chi-Rho, Iota or other Christian symbols.
