MERCY and JUSTICE II – HONORING JOHN CARDINAL O’CONNOR

AVE BEADS: Faceted amethyst 8 mm crystal glass sometimes referred to as ‘Cathedral Windows’. Each formed in old antique glass bead molds, using old glass cane from the 1920’s (very limited, unable to replace when gone.

PATER BEADS: 12mm Faceted Swarovski Crystal (Austrian) framed with antiqued filigree caps. When held up to the light, they are clear. The color is called ‘Golden Shadow’ and may be reflecting colors near by, such as the filigree or background.

CRUCIFIX & CENTER: LILY/AVE MARIA ROSARY SET – Phillipines/late 1880s (2.25 in.)

CHAPLET CRUCIFIX: FILIGREE FLEUR – antique, origin age unknown – ( 1.5 in. without bail)

MERCY AND JUSTICE
When John Joseph O’Conner became bishop of New York in 1984, his coat of arms included these words: ‘There can be no love without justice’, (taken from a quote from the Holy Father, 2 weeks after he became Pope.) He lived up to these words as he was a passionate warrior of Justice and Mercy.
