AVE BEADS: 8mm rough, brown seeds to remind us of the rough grotto stone.
PATER BEADS: Faceted blue, framed with filigree caps. Blue faceted spacers to carry color of waistband Mary wore. Little metal rose beads symbolize yellow rosebuds at her feet.
CRUCIFIX: DOVE CRUCIFIX – antique, Russia/19c or earlier – (3 in.)
CENTER: LOURDES CENTER – France, early 1900s (1.25 in)
WHO WAS ST BERNADETTE? January 7, 1844, April 16, 1879 Feast Day: April 16 / Feb 8 (France) Bernadette was a sickly child, contracting cholera as a toddler and suffered severe asthma for most of her life. She attended day school conducted by the Sisters of Charity and Christian Instruction from Nevers. Bernadette and her family lived in extreme poverty. At 14, she saw our Lady, with 18 visits total.
