MEDAL: St Benedict by medalist Egino Weinert.  (Medal 1.5 x 2 inches)

MEDAL: World renowned German artist, Egino Weinert, is a master in the field of sacred gold smithery, as well as a painter and sculptor. He has consigned pieces of art for Cathedrals and Churches throughout the world and is a favorite of John Paul II. Several of Mr. Weinert’s original enamel works may be seen in the Galleria Moderna of the Vatican Museum.


SAINT BENEDICT – ITALY (490 -543) Established the Benedictine order, bringing monasticism into a new sense of order. It is said, “The finger of God had only to point, and he followed whatever the cost.” He established the home of the Benedictines at Monte Cassino, north of Rome. building it over Pagan Altar of Apollo. By 14c there were over 30,000 Benedictines.
