Description

OLD CREDO CROSS: The credo cross was very popular during the 1800s then lost popularity in the mid 1900s. It was used on the pendant area of the rosary below the Pater bead. And in some old museum pieces we see them replace the 3 Ave beads. People still pray the prayer that was attached to this cross, ‘For an increase in Faith, Hope and Charity (love).’ Filigreed Credo crosses seen in most Filigree Rosaries from the Austrian and Bavarian areas during the 18 – 19c. (SEE PRAYER IN MUSEUM UNDER ~ WHAT IS A ‘CREDO-KREUZ’ ? ~  SEE LINK) http://www.rosaryworkshop.com/MUSEUM-AntRosary-Index.htm

It may also be used in jewelry. Hole runs from top to bottom or through short measurement. A heavy solid piece.

Part of our Equatoria Collection.

ABOUT OUR MEDALS: All medals on our site are hand cast from antique and vintage pieces in sterling silver and solid bronze then antiqued to restore original patina.
