PAX ET BONUM I: “Peace and all goodness”

AVE BEAD:8mm brown/black faceted glass as a reminder of his rough, woven garment.

PATER BEAD: Hand-carved wooden skulls as St Francis spoke of Sister Death in the Canticle of the Sun and is often imaged with a skull.

CRUCIFIX: LG SAN DAMIANO Crucifix – Europe/19c – (2.5 in.). A powerful cross, the San Damiano Cross is used on this rosary, remembering this is the cross that St Francis of Assisi chose as his own after hearing the Lord speak to him, asking him to Rebuild his church as it is in ruins.  One look around us today helps us to understand why now he is – Called by God.

CENTER:  1900 / EUCHARIST CENTER – Europe/1900 – (1 in.sans ring)

……”Peace and all goodness” A favorite of St Francis, wishing one a ‘hello’ or ‘fairwell’ – has carried over the centuries from one Franciscan to the next. The 266th Pope took the name Francis in honor of St Francis of Assisi, the first time it has ever been used. Very fitting for the humility of both.
