Description

BISHOP OSCAR ROMERO: (1917-1980) ‘SERVANT OF GOD’ – MARTYR

AVE BEADS:Very hard to find, the black Padre beads used here, (from the late 1800’S, early 1900’s). And rarely are deep black, sitting more on the side of dark grays. We lightened these a bit to show them better. They are opaque. We chose these black beads to remember his life as a priest.

PATER BEADS: 10mm Wood to keep the naturalness of the period.

CROSS:  VICTORY OVER ADAM’s SIN – late 1700’s – (2.5 in.) Cast from a piece over 100 years old.

The rosary is made all in one loop following tradition. This design also does not tangle or knot as easily as the pendant design.

Archbishop Romero was shot while celebrating Mass at a small chapel located in a hospital called “La Divina Providencia”, on 24 March 1980. His homily was directed to the Salvadoran soldiers, “as Christians, to obey God’s higher order and to stop carrying out the government’s repression and violations of basic human rights.”  He was shot while elevating the Chalice during the Eucharistic rite.  His blood spilled over the altar mixing with the Holy Blood of Christ in the chalice.

We encourage you to re dedicate this rosary to any one you choose. Just say your first prayer for Fr Romero! Thanks!
